Switching from Vagaro or GlossGenius: what actually moves

What carries over when a salon switches to Turbo Link, what does not, and a two-week plan to make the move without losing bookings.

Updated September 2, 2026 Turbo Link for salons

Switching platforms is mostly about one thing: your client list. If that moves cleanly, the rest is a manageable two-week project, not a rebuild from scratch.

What moves

Client contact information. Names, phone numbers, and email addresses export as a CSV from Vagaro and GlossGenius, and Turbo Link imports that file directly. This is the core of the switch and it works reliably.

Your domain, if you already own it. If your salon’s domain was registered separately from your old platform, it moves with you. If your old platform issued you a subdomain or hosted your domain registration, check that first, since domain transfers can take a few days.

Your booking policy. Deposit percentages, cancellation windows, and no-show fees are a decision you make once and set up on the new platform. Nothing about that policy is locked to the old system.

What does not move automatically

Formula history and detailed client notes. Whether these come over depends entirely on what your old platform includes in its export. A basic CSV export usually covers contact info only, not years of color formulas or private notes. Check your old platform’s export options before committing to a switch date, and if formula history matters, export it in whatever format is available and keep it as a reference even if it does not import directly.

Past appointment history. Some platforms export this, many do not in a usable format. If historical reporting matters to you, pull whatever reports you need before canceling the old account.

Reviews tied to a marketplace listing. If your old platform hosted your reviews on its own marketplace, like Vagaro’s directory listing, those reviews generally stay with that platform’s page, not with you. Google reviews and reviews on your own site are unaffected either way.

A two-week plan

Days 1 to 3: export and audit. Pull the client CSV from your old platform. Open it and check what fields are actually populated, phone, email, last visit date. Note anything missing that you will want to re-collect, like birthdays for future marketing.

Days 4 to 7: build the new site. Set up the Turbo Link site on your domain, import the client CSV, and configure your deposit and no-show policy. Set service menus, pricing, and staff calendars. This is also the point to decide on card-on-file versus deposit rules, covered in detail at salon deposit and no show policy.

Days 8 to 10: run both, quietly. Keep the old booking link live for existing appointments already on the books. Start directing new inquiries, social media links, and Google Business Profile booking links to the new site.

Days 11 to 14: cut over. Once the old system has no upcoming appointments left, redirect or update every link that pointed to it, cancel the old subscription, and confirm the new site is the only booking path live.

Pick a slower week for the cutover window if your schedule allows it. A holiday week or the week before a big local event is the wrong time to be testing a new system.

The export promise

If Turbo Link is not the right fit later, you are not locked in. You can export your client and business data at any time, the same way you moved data in. See export your data for what that export covers.

Getting started

Client import from a CSV is covered step by step at import clients csv, and the general switching process, including what to check on your old platform before you export, is at switching from another tool. Questions people ask

Will I lose my client list if I switch?

No, as long as you export it before canceling the old plan. Both Vagaro and GlossGenius let you export clients as a CSV file, which Turbo Link imports directly. See /help/import-clients-csv for the exact fields the import expects.

Do my appointment history and formula notes come over?

Sometimes, depending on what your old platform's export includes. Basic client contact information transfers cleanly by CSV. Detailed notes, formula history, and past appointment records depend on whether the old platform exports them at all, and some do not include that in a standard CSV export.

Can I keep taking bookings while I switch?

Yes, if you plan the switch around a slow week and keep the old booking link active until the new site is live. Most salons run both systems briefly, point new bookings to the new site once it is ready, and let existing appointments on the old system play out.

What happens to my old website's search ranking?

If you move to a new domain, expect a temporary dip in search visibility while the new site gets indexed. If you keep your existing domain and just change platforms, the impact is smaller. Either way, set up redirects from any old page URLs you can identify.

If I decide to leave Turbo Link later, can I get my data back?

Yes. You can export your client and business data at any time. See /help/export-your-data for what the export includes.
